Chris and wife Patty - Graceland-Memphis, TN (March 2008)
The wall surrounding the Graceland estate is made from Alabama fieldstone. It is sometimes referred to as the "Grafitti Wall", because visitors and thousands of adoring fans each year write sentiments to Elvis on it. This has been a tradition since Elvis' early years at Graceland and has continued on after his passing through to the present day. A crew cleans the wall regularly with a pressuirzed water system to make way for a whole new round of messages.

Elvis was originally buried in Forest Hill Cemetary (Memphis, TN), on August 18, 1977, but his grave was moved to Graceland in October 1977. The other graves are his mother, his father, and Minnie Mae, his grandmother. There is also a small marker for Elvis' stillborn twin brother.
The wrought-iron gates at Graceland are probably among the most famous in the world and show two guitar players and musical notes. Elvis used to wander down to the gates to sign autographs, pose for photos, and chat with fans. Now on each anniversary of his death (August 16th, 1977) thousands of fans gather at the gates to honor Elvis' memory and hold an annual candlelight vigil.
"From 1956 until 1957, Elvis and his family lived at 1034 Audobon Drive in Memphis. It wasn't long, however, before it became apparent that the Presleys needed more privacy and security than the Audubon Drive home could provide. So in 1957, Elvis bought Graceland for $102,000 from Ruth Brown Moore. Graceland was Elvis' final home in Memphis and it is where he died in 1977."
